Global Positioning System(GPS), which is maintained by 24 satellite is expected not to survive till next year. This was under the control of US Air Force since 1990. These satellites were to replaced by 1997 but no steps were taken for this till now due to lack of fund and also mismanagement. Fall of GPS shall threat mobile phones with GPS applications and also travellers who don't know directions. But countries like India, Russia and China has taken steps to expand their satellite navigation techniques and resources. We shall see the real damage it can cause during the next year. If necessary steps are not taken it is a real threat to communication systems too.
