Working of touch screen-resistive system

Touch screen phones and computers are now available at cheaper price in our market. Lets see what is the technology behind it.Three systems are used to detect the touch of a person. I am going to explain one of these.
Its called the resistive system. It consist of a normal glass layer which is a good conductor and also a metallic layer. Between these two layers there are space.An electric current runs through these when the device is operated. The outer most layer is scratch-resistant and when a person touches it the previously mentioned two layers come into contact at the exact spot. The electric current variation at that spot is noted and the coordinates of the point are noted by the computer(or phone). Once this coordinate is known it is then converted into signals by drivers and a detected by an operating system(as the movement of mouse is detected).
